Capital IQ Pro: Advanced Visualizations for M&A
OPPORTUNITY
S&P Global was looking to help its customers gain better market insights during M&A analysis. The goal was to provide customers with advanced visualization tools for assessing the scale, geographical reach, and potential efficiencies using market data applied to geographies.
APPROACH
We started by defining the steps in the M&A process by interviewing key S&P customers and analysts. Common patterns and needs emerged particularly in the energy and financial sectors. Extensive information architecture was developed to rationalize the comparative information that would be needed for filtering and applying metadata. A data connection service was designed to minimize the administrative overhead for integrating customer data and rationalizing with market data models.
SOLUTION
The M&A module allows S&P customers to understand opportunities by sector in a visual way, make better decisions about supply chains, and save countless hours in set-up and analysis. This module immediately added value to a significant percentage of the S&P and IHS Markit subscriber base.
Administrative Users
configure the data mapping tools to build data sets for downstream Data Users.
Once the Customer Environment is mapped to Market Intelligence Data Services - the Data Users can easily perform analysis using advanced visualizations to extract value from their data in a new way.
